Refractory castable: It is made of refractory aggregate and powder, raw clay, chemical compound and admixture. A refractory material constructed by the method of hitting. Clay with certain plasticity constructed by tamping method or extrusion method. It is composed of refractory materials, binders and additives with a certain particle gradation, and is made by adding water (or liquid containing binders) and mixing.

Classification of refractory castables:

Its plasticity is expressed by the castable index. According to the main material of the castable, it is divided into clay, high alumina, siliceous, semi-siliceous, corundum, zircon, silicon carbide and carbonaceous castables. The binders include air-hardening or thermosetting inorganic binders and thermosetting organic binders. Admixtures include plasticizers, preservatives and anti-shrinkage agents. Refractory castables are mainly used as linings in various heating furnaces, soaking furnaces, annealing furnaces, sintering furnaces, and electric furnace tops in the iron and steel industry.
