Selection principles of refractory materials for glass furnaces
Before selecting refractory materials, you need to first understand the following factors

② glass quality requirements;
③ Production capacity, that is, how much melting rate and melting temperature are selected;
④Insulation situation, in which parts should be insulated in order to save fuel;
⑤Economy, that is, how much to invest
When selecting refractory materials, it is necessary to meet the requirements of use, to ensure the economy of the pool furnace, and to facilitate production.
(1) Guaranteed use requirements
Various refractory materials used in the construction of glass pool furnaces should meet the following basic requirements:
①It should have high softening and melting temperature, and the general refractoriness should not be lower than 1580℃
②Have enough mechanical strength, can resist impact, friction, high temperature and high speed flame, erosion of smoke and other mechanical effects.
③It has good structural strength at high temperature and can bear mechanical load for a long time at operating temperature.
④ Strong resistance to erosion of various components of molten batches, molten glass and gaseous substances
⑤ The pollution to the glass should be small.
⑥ Good resistance to rapid cooling and rapid heating (thermal shock).
⑦Good volume stability at high temperature, small residual shrinkage or expansion.
⑧The thermal properties such as heat capacity, thermal expansion and thermal conductivity meet the requirements of use.
⑨ Regular shape, accurate size.
⑩Other requirements according to the conditions of use (for example, the electrical properties of the electrode bricks must meet the requirements for use).
Refractory materials must be selected according to the different erosion conditions of each part of the pool furnace.
(2) Guarantee the economy of the pool furnace
When choosing refractory materials, we should pay attention to proceeding from reality, fully study the balance of service life of refractory materials in various parts of the whole pool furnace, and achieve greater economic effects with less investment. Fully guarantee the economy of the glass pool furnace and the balance of the entire pool furnace life.
(3) Easy to manufacture
When selecting refractory materials, it is necessary to take into account both the use and manufacture. The standardization of refractory brick shape and size is conducive to the development of refractory production, facilitates the realization of the finalization of glass pool furnace design, and is conducive to construction and maintenance. The cost of standard-shaped bricks is usually 30%~50% lower than that of special-shaped bricks. The use of standardized refractory bricks should be prioritized for glass pool furnaces.
